So far, people who are recovering from the flu will hear suggestions that they should replace their toothbrush . This is because the toothbrush is used when the feared ill still keep the virus and can make you sick if not replaced .

But Charles Gerba , a professor of Microbiology at the University of Arizona dismissed the case . He said the suggestion to replace the toothbrush after being sick only a myth. You can still use the toothbrush that you use to get sick though only as colds , flu , sore throat , and more .

Gerba explains that the bacteria are able to live in a toothbrush for a few hours to several days . Bacteria and germs persist even longer in damp wet toothbrush and a new use , as reported by the Huffington Post ( 07 / 03 ) .

But as long as the bacteria that comes from yourself, you need not worry . You will not get sick again for a toothbrush that you never use when sick after recovery . This is because your body has built antibodies to ward off the bacteria that cause the illness earlier . So any bacteria remaining on the toothbrush would be eradicated by the immune system

But of course this does not apply if you share a toothbrush with someone else . It could be someone else who will catch you ill because of exposure to bacteria on the toothbrushes . Even so , sharing a toothbrush is not healthy , so you should not do . Use a toothbrush for personal use .

With the above information , you do not need to worry about using a toothbrush that had been used during illness . But if really want to use a toothbrush that is sterile , it could not hurt as well buy a new toothbrush . Just do not use toothbrush turns with others !
